1954-58 composition studies at Music Faculty of Academy of Performing Arts (AMU) in Prague with Jar. Ridky and Vl. Sommer. M. A. degree 1958, 1964-1972 lecturer in the Department of Composition at the Music faculty of Academy of Performing Arts AMU) in Prague. 1970 finished post-graduate studies at the same department with E. Hlobil and Workshop of Electro-acoustic Music with E. Herzog and M. Kabelac in Experimental Studio of Radio Plzen. From 1967 - readership at Film and TV Faculty of Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) for theory of music and sound dramaturgy of film, 1980 - founder of the Sound Design Department at FAMU, from 1993 - Head of Sound Design Department FAMU, 1999 - Professor.
His compositional output is directed mainly to modern classical music - chamber, vocal and orchestral - performed live, broadcast on the radio, printed and published on CD. His 3rd String Quartet was awarded the front position in the International Rostrum of Composers UNESCO - Paris 1991. Composition Zoolessons was awarded the Annual Prize of Czech Music Found - 1993. Author of publication about sound dramaturgy of film; most substantial: Sound Dramaturgy of Audiovisual Work (AMU Prague 1995, 2004) serving as basic educational text at both Czech and foreign film schools.
