Otomar Kvech studied from 1965 to 1969 at the Prague Conservatory (organ with J. Kuban, composition with M. Raichl, F. Kovaricek and J. Z. Bartos), then he conitnued his studies of composition with J. Pauer (1969-1974). From 1980 - 1989 he acted as the artistic secretary of the Union of Czech Composers, after that he became a teacher of composition at Prague Conservatoire (1990 - ), since 2001 has been giving also lectures on  music theory at the Musical Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
