In 1991 he graduated from the Conservatory in Prague in composition (Vadim Petrov) and piano (Vladimir Topinka). He later continued his composition studies at the Academy of Performing Arts with Prof. Vaclav Riedlbauch. His activities can be summarised under three headings: composing, concert performance and teaching. As a composer he writes orchestral, chamber and solo music. His pieces are regularly broadcast by Czech radio, released on disc, and to be found in the regular repertoire of top Czech soloists and ensembles. He works with recording companies that include Supraphon, GZ Digital Media and Triga. He also writes stage and film music and other kinds of "incidental" music in various different genres. Since 1995 he has been a lecturer at the Prague Conservatory, where he teaches music theory subjects and piano improvisation. Jiri Pazour's work as a concert soloist is focused primarily on piano inprovisation.
With their energy, spontaneity and variety, "Jiri Pazour's Evenings of Piano Improvisation" have become popular at home and abroad. Besides in the Czech Republic he has appeared in Germany, Poland, Slovakia and France, and performs regularly in England. In 1999 he recorded the CD Smoke In Your Eyes containing piano variations on famous international evergreens.
