Marek Keprt is a pianist, composer, musicologist and teacher from Olomouc. From 1992 to 2000 he studied at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna piano (Alexander Jenner, Carmen Graf-Adnet) and composition (Iván Eröd, Dieter Kaufamnn). He participated also in master classes with pianist James Tocca (Luzern), Alexis Weissenberg (Engelberg) and Csaba Király in Budapest. In 2008 he successfully completed his doctoral studies at the Department of Musicology FFUP in Olomouc with a dissertation on piano poems of A. Scriabin). As a soloist he regularly collaborates with the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc, with solo piano recitals he toured several countries in Europe and South Korea. He records for Czech Radio, and his repertoire focuses on compositions by the Romantics, expecially on works by A. Scriabin. As a composer he writes mainly for the piano and various chamber ensembles. His compositions have been performed in several European countries and the USA. Since 2002 he has been teaching at the Department of Musicology FFUP in Olomouc and the Church Conservatory of Opava.
